Leader's of both sides of World War II
Adolf Hitler:
20 April 1889 - 30 April 1945
Adolf Hitler, the son of Alois Hitler and Klara Pölzl, was a failed painter and a decorated WWI soldier before entering politics. Hitler joined the National Scocialistic German Worker Party (which actually wasn't socialistic) 12 September 1919. He was attracted to the party after having become an intelligence agent with the job to monitor them earlier that same year.
Hitler quickly rose within the party due to his ability to speak powerfully using anger, enthusiasm, and interest of the subject. 30 January 1933 Hitler was appointed chancellor. this was due to both that he seemed as the one who could pull Germany out of the depression set by the Treaty of Versaille, and also due to his creation of the Sturm Abteilung (Storm Troopers), who threatened, or killed, political enemies, while serving as his bodyguards.
Only about a year and a half later, 2 August 1934, Hitler was appointed President due to German laws that state that if the President dies, the chancellor takes over. Now Hitler, both chancellor and President, called himself Der Führer (the Leader), and was the totalitarian dictator of Germany, and sought to expand his Reich.

Joseph Stalin
18 December 1878 - 5 March 1953
Joseph Stalin (born Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili), the son of Besarion Jughashvili and Ketevan Geladze was the leader of the Soviet Union during WWII, which he gained control of in the late 1920s. He gained the power slowly but surely. Stalin started taking interest in the political party: the Bolsheviks when it was formed by Vladimir Lenin in 1903. This new party gained Joseph's interest and dedication so much that he in 1907 organized a robbery, stealing millions of rubles to fund the Bolsheviks.
As he slowly grew in the party's ranks and gain more power, he started to put specially chosen people in charge of the newspapers. He did so to spread propaganda and raise support for the party.
In 1917, all of the support the Bolsheviks had gained helped lead to the Russian Revolution, where Russians chose to kill the czar, and give the power to the people. Sadly, though people were more equal, Vladimir Lenin, the head of state at the time, died just a few years late in 1924. This opened the doors for Stalin to take over Russia by exiling the rest of the Bolsheviks leaders. When Stalin was in control, everyone was with him. Otherwise, they were eliminated.

Franklin D. Roosevelt
30 January 1882 - 12 April 1945
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born in Hyde Park, NY, was taught by tutors and governesses until he was 14, than got into a boys school, and he went to college at Harvard University.
FDR entered the Democratic party, and though New York was a Republican state, he won the State Senate selection in 1910, being only 28 years old.
Roosevelt stayed in the Senate until he was elected as New York's Governor in 1928, and he was elected President in 1932, and took office in 1933. He was elected 4 times.
Before the U.S. entered WWII, America was split up into interventionists, who wanted to go to war, and isolationists, who wanted to stay out of it. FDR was clearly for going to war, but had to help the Allies in a less blatant way. This is why he chose to supply the Allies, but not fight until Pearl Harbor was attacked.

Winston Churchill
30 November 1874 - 24 January 1965
Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill grew up in Dublin, Ireland with a wealthy family. Churchill wasn't the perfect student. He was rebellious, and did poorly in school. After attending his 2 first schools, he was sent to Harrow School, a boarding school, in April 1888 and quickly joined their military program. When he graduated Harrow, he started at the British Royal Military College, where he had to take his final exam 3 times.
Churchill got into the British Parliament in 1922, and gradually gained power after Hitler became chancellor.
When the Battle of Britain started in 1940, Churchill worked hard to stay out of German control, and was relieved when America joined the war, since America would protect the UK, so they could use that as a base closer to the stage of the war.
